JUI Has Made the Greatest Sacrifices for Pakistan, Constitution, and National Security, Says Senator Abdul Wasay

QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay has said that his party has made the greatest sacrifices for Pakistan, the Constitution, and national security, while accusing political opponents of attempting to discredit JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman through politically motivated campaigns.
In a statement, Abdul Wasay said those who had failed in the political arena were now using “paid voices” and political proxies to target Fazlur Rehman. He maintained that such efforts could not alter history or diminish the party’s record of sacrifice and public service.
The senator said patriotism is not demonstrated through slogans, social media campaigns, or certificates, but through loyalty to the Constitution, commitment to democracy, national unity, and continuous efforts to strengthen the state.
He stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman and JUI’s political history spanning more than five decades reflects the party’s consistent support for the Constitution, Parliament, democracy, the federation of Pakistan, and national security during critical periods.
Abdul Wasay said that despite challenging conditions from Balochistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, JUI had always promoted constitutional and democratic political struggle instead of confrontation. He added that the party had consistently instructed its workers to remain within the framework of the law and the Constitution.
He also criticized what he described as attempts to take Fazlur Rehman’s statements out of context, saying political disagreement is legitimate but character assassination, media trials, and distortion of historical facts are harmful to democratic values and national politics.
The senator further said that Fazlur Rehman has consistently opposed extremism, resisted authoritarian rule, and defended the Constitution, the state, and national unity during difficult times.
Abdul Wasay concluded by saying that JUI does not seek certificates of patriotism from any individual or institution. He said the party’s identity is rooted in its unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s Constitution, national sovereignty, democratic continuity, the strength of the federation, and public service, adding that JUI would continue to uphold its principles and would not bow to political pressure.
