Hazara Democratic Party Alleges Nepotism and Corruption in Government Recruitment Process

Quetta: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has expressed serious concerns over the recruitment process in government departments, alleging that nepotism, favoritism, and the alleged sale of public sector jobs are undermining merit and depriving deserving candidates of employment opportunities.

In a statement, the party claimed that qualified, hardworking, and deserving young people are being denied their rights due to political influence and an entrenched culture of recommendations in public hiring. It described the erosion of merit as one of the major reasons behind Balochistan’s continued underdevelopment.

The HDP further alleged that injustices against the province’s youth have increased under the current provincial government, adding that the concerns of educated and unemployed young people—particularly those belonging to the Hazara community in Quetta—are not being effectively represented.

The party also claimed that individuals who do not genuinely represent Quetta’s local population have been brought into positions of influence, arguing that they are neither familiar with local issues nor serious about resolving them. According to the statement, this has contributed to difficulties faced by local residents, especially in securing employment.

The HDP further alleged a lack of transparency in administrative affairs and development projects within government institutions, saying the situation continues to deprive genuinely unemployed youth of job opportunities.

The party called on the government to ensure merit-based recruitment across all sectors, provide employment opportunities to qualified and deserving candidates based on their abilities, and give priority to local youth in Quetta when filling government vacancies.
