Public Suffering Due to Extortion at Check Posts, Says Maulana Hidayat in Balochistan Assembly
**Quetta:** Lawmaker Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman has alleged that people are facing severe hardship due to ongoing extortion at check posts, while transport operations in Makran have remained suspended for the past two months.
Speaking during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Maulana Hidayat said the complete closure of transport in the Makran region has significantly affected the public. He claimed that bribery and illegal collections are taking place at various check posts, adding that ordinary citizens are suffering as a result.
“We do not support smuggling,” he stated, “but why is extortion continuing at check posts?”
He urged the authorities to address the issue immediately to ease the difficulties faced by the public and ensure transparency in law enforcement operations.
