No Compromise on Pakistan’s Sovereignty and National Security, Says Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed that there can be no compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security, while emphasizing that the government remains open to dialogue with all stakeholders within the framework of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan and Balochistan are inseparable, and that their bond would remain strong for generations to come.

Bugti said violence, anti-state propaganda on social media, and the promotion of what he described as the “illegitimate voices” of terrorists are being used to spread hatred and instability against the state. He alleged that such tactics are part of organized efforts to weaken and divide Pakistan, adding that these attempts would be defeated.

Rejecting the argument that uneven development is the primary cause of terrorism, the Chief Minister said the issue is rooted in a particular extremist ideology rather than a lack of development. He pointed out that areas such as Turbat have seen significant development, yet militant activities have not disappeared.

He said anti-state elements are not interested in the prosperity or welfare of the people but seek to impose their ideology through violence. According to Bugti, such groups aim to fragment Pakistan, but the state and the nation will not allow their objectives to succeed.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the provincial government is willing to hold talks with anyone who accepts the Constitution of Pakistan. However, he stressed that there can be no negotiations with individuals or groups seeking to undermine Pakistan’s unity or sovereignty.

Bugti added that while citizens may have legitimate concerns regarding governance, public services, and administration, the government is committed to addressing those issues. Nevertheless, he said the country’s security and unity remain non-negotiable.

He also announced that the provincial government plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into the public recruitment process to ensure greater transparency, impartiality, and merit-based hiring, providing equal opportunities to all qualified candidates.

Following his address, the Chief Minister held an interactive question-and-answer session with workshop participants, responding in detail to their queries during a discussion that lasted for more than two and a half hours.
