Medical Community Mourns Dr. Akash Killed in Karachi Robbery Shooting

KARACHI: Doctors and healthcare professionals are mourning the death of Dr. Akash, a young physician who was killed during an armed robbery near Clifton’s Three Swords area, with colleagues describing the incident as a tragic loss for the medical community.
Dr. Akash, the son of Siri Chand, had recently been appointed as a government medical officer after completing his house job at Jinnah Hospital, where he was known for his dedication and commitment to patient care.
According to colleagues, the young doctor had only just begun his professional career when his life was cut short in the robbery incident.

The killing has cast a shadow over Jinnah Hospital and the wider medical community, with fellow doctors expressing profound grief and anger over the loss of a healthcare professional who had devoted himself to saving lives.
Members of the doctors’ community have staged protests following the incident, arguing that healthcare workers have become increasingly vulnerable to violent crime.
They said it is deeply troubling that medical professionals who dedicate their lives to treating patients are themselves no longer safe, and called for stronger measures to improve public security and protect healthcare workers.
