PM Shehbaz Sharif Says Sectarianism Must End to Unite the Nation

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the nation cannot be united until the menace of sectarianism is completely eliminated. Speaking at the National Ulema Convention in Islamabad, he said that victory in the “battle of truth” was achieved through the prayers of religious scholars and the leadership of the Field Marshal, with the blessings of Allah Almighty.
He praised the unmatched efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces, saying that the trust visible on the faces of the martyrs’ families is the greatest sacrifice of all. The Prime Minister stressed that as long as people discourage offering prayers behind followers of other sects, national unity will remain out of reach. He urged the gathering to reaffirm the commitment to fostering harmony and solidarity within the country.
PM Shehbaz stated that Pakistan is now moving toward economic stability. He said that both the political and military leadership played a crucial role in saving the country from default. However, he warned that terrorism and development cannot progress together.
He reminded the audience that religious scholars had supported Quaid-e-Azam during the creation of Pakistan, and expectations were high that the country would become a global center of Islamic values.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Pakistan would achieve prosperity through hard work and national cohesion. He added that enemies are astonished while friendly nations are pleased with Pakistan’s victory over India. In such times, he said, any poisonous propaganda against the armed forces must be countered, as defending the military is a shared national responsibility.
The event was attended by religious scholars from across the country as well as Field Marshal Asim Munir.
