Environmental Pollution Knows No Borders, Collective Action Needed for a Cleaner Future: Maryam Nawaz

**ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily)** — Punjab Chief Minister **Maryam Nawaz Sharif** inaugurated the **Pakistan Pavilion** at the **COP30 Climate Conference**, emphasizing the urgent need for global cooperation to combat environmental pollution and climate change.

Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said, *“Environmental pollution knows no borders. To provide a clean and healthy environment for future generations, we must work together.”*

Maryam Nawaz stressed that **climate change is no longer a prediction but a present danger**, adding that **Pakistan ranks among the top ten countries most affected** by its devastating impacts. She recalled the **massive floods in recent years**, which displaced **2.6 million people** and destroyed **millions of acres of standing crops**.

Highlighting provincial efforts, she said the **Punjab government** is adopting **modern technologies** to improve **air quality** and mitigate the effects of climate change. She noted that **SPARCO and NASA** are assisting in **monitoring air quality**, while **major pollution sources such as industries and brick kilns** are being closely tracked.

To curb **crop residue burning**, the government has distributed **super seeders and advanced agricultural machinery** to farmers, alongside running **public awareness campaigns** across media platforms.

Maryam Nawaz also spoke about the success of the **Green Revolution Program** and **Suthra Punjab (Clean Punjab) Initiative**, under which cleanliness drives are being implemented in **every street and neighborhood** across the province.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming her government’s commitment to **a sustainable, green, and pollution-free Punjab**, urging national and international stakeholders to **join hands for a cleaner, safer planet.**
