Indian Man and Girlfriend Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Newlywed Wife

A man and his girlfriend have been arrested in India’s Haryana state for allegedly murdering his newlywed wife, police said.
According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in the Manesar area of Gurugram district, where 25-year-old Ankit is accused of shooting his wife to death with the help of his girlfriend, Rajni.
The case came to light after the victim’s mother filed a complaint with police on May 22 against her daughter’s husband and in-laws. She told investigators that her daughter had married Ankit in February this year. After repeated attempts to contact her daughter failed, she reached out to the in-laws but did not receive a satisfactory response.
During the investigation, police allegedly discovered that the victim had been shot and killed. Her body was later recovered from a rented room belonging to Rajni.
According to investigators, Ankit had been married for only three months but had reportedly been in a relationship with Rajni for the past three years.
Police said the two suspects fled to Nepal after the alleged murder. They were arrested by the Crime Branch shortly after returning to India.
Authorities have launched legal proceedings, and the investigation into the case is ongoing. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
