Khushal Khan Kakar Calls for Transparent Probe into Hanna Urak and Ziarat Incidents

Islamabad: During a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior, Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) Chairman and Member of the National Assembly Khushal Khan Kakar voiced strong concern over the deteriorating security situation in Pashtun-majority areas and called for transparent investigations into the recent Hanna Urak and Ziarat incidents.

Addressing the committee, Kakar briefed members on the recent attacks in Hanna Urak and Ziarat, stating that the incidents resulted in the deaths of civilians, police personnel, and local residents, while several people remain missing. He said the attacks had left affected families and the wider region in a state of grief, fear, and insecurity.

Kakar expressed concern that, despite the seriousness of the incidents, there had been no effective or timely action against the perpetrators, armed groups, or their alleged facilitators. He stressed that protecting the lives and property of citizens and maintaining law and order are fundamental constitutional responsibilities of the state.

The PkNAP leader urged the Standing Committee to recommend:

A transparent, impartial, and comprehensive investigation into the Hanna Urak and Ziarat incidents.
Immediate justice, adequate compensation, and government assistance for the families of the victims.
The safe and prompt recovery of all missing and abducted persons.
Decisive and indiscriminate action against militants, their alleged facilitators, and armed groups.
A comprehensive long-term strategy to restore peace and eliminate terrorism in the region.

Kakar reaffirmed that the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party would continue its political and constitutional struggle for lasting peace, the protection of citizens’ lives and property, the rule of law, and the safeguarding of democratic and constitutional rights.
