Hassan Jahangir Reveals Rekha’s Alleged Love Letter and Regrets Turning Down Bollywood Offers

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani singer Hassan Jahangir has revealed that he received immense love and appreciation in India following the phenomenal success of his iconic song Hawa Hawa, while also expressing regret over rejecting several Bollywood film offers.
Speaking on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Jahangir said his popularity extended beyond Pakistan’s entertainment industry and that he developed cordial relationships with several leading Bollywood celebrities.
When asked whether veteran Indian actress Rekha had once sent him a love letter, the singer smiled and responded that love can happen at any age, but some matters should remain private. He declined to elaborate further on the claim.
Jahangir said he was always treated with respect and affection in India. He added that he continues to share friendly relations with several Bollywood stars, including Madhuri Dixit, Govinda, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Mithun Chakraborty, and that they occasionally exchange goodwill messages.
Reflecting on one of the biggest regrets of his career, Jahangir revealed that he had received multiple offers to play lead roles in Bollywood films, including projects that would have paired him with actresses such as Neelam and Madhuri Dixit.
However, he chose to decline all the offers and return to Pakistan—a decision he says he still regrets today.
The veteran singer’s remarks have sparked renewed interest in his successful career and the opportunities he once had in the Indian film industry following the cross-border success of Hawa Hawa
