PkMAP Demands Judicial Probe into Dana Sar Bus Crash, Blames Negligence for Loss of Lives

Quetta: Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has called for a transparent judicial inquiry into the Dana Sar passenger bus tragedy, which reportedly claimed around 40 lives, alleging that the incident resulted from serious negligence by the transport company and regulatory authorities.
In a statement issued by its central secretariat, the party expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families while praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.
PkMAP described the incident as more than a road accident, alleging that it reflected gross negligence by the transport company and a failure of the authorities responsible for enforcing transport safety regulations.
The party said that if initial reports suggesting the coach was carrying extra fuel, overloaded with passengers, and operating without meeting required safety standards are confirmed, those responsible should be held accountable under the law.
The statement questioned the role of transport authorities, motor vehicle examiners, highway police, and other regulatory bodies, arguing that effective enforcement of vehicle fitness standards and transport regulations could have prevented the tragedy.
PkMAP demanded a comprehensive, independent, and impartial judicial investigation into the crash, including scrutiny of the transport company’s management, officials responsible for issuing vehicle fitness certificates, and all relevant government departments. It called for legal action against anyone found guilty of negligence, mismanagement, or violations of transport laws.
The party also criticized the condition of the transport system, national highways, emergency medical services, and regulatory oversight in Balochistan, alleging that inadequate enforcement has allowed private transport operators to compromise passenger safety.
In addition, PkMAP urged the government to provide adequate financial compensation to the families of those who lost their lives, ensure long-term support for affected families, offer free and quality medical treatment to the injured, and introduce stricter monitoring of passenger vehicles, including inspections for vehicle fitness, overloading, illegal transportation of flammable materials, driver qualifications, and compliance with transport safety regulations.
The party further demanded that the inquiry report be made public within the prescribed timeframe and that all individuals and organizations found responsible be prosecuted in accordance with the law to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
