Chaman Rally Symbol of Unity, Awareness and Determination, Says Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party

QUETTA: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has said that the grand public gathering in Chaman was a manifestation of public unity, awareness, and determination, adding that the people must stand united against discriminatory treatment of Pashtuns.
In a statement issued by the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP expressed gratitude to party workers, supporters, and the public for participating in the rally despite extreme heat, and for listening to the speeches of party chairman and leader of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and other central and provincial leaders with discipline.
The statement said that the gathering reflected a collective resolve to overcome the current difficult circumstances and highlighted public commitment to continue the struggle for rights.
The party also appreciated workers, organizing committees, and police personnel for ensuring effective security arrangements.
PkMAP stated that what it called “illegitimate governments imposed under Form 47” have undermined the Constitution, weakened Parliament, and restricted the independence of state institutions, including the judiciary and media, which it termed alarming for democracy.
The statement added that PkMAP has always played a frontline role in democratic movements and, under the leadership of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan is working for the restoration of the Constitution in its original form, parliamentary sovereignty, true democratic federation based on equality of all nations, and the release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan.
The party said that public participation in political and democratic struggle is essential for real change, justice, and prosperity in the country.
Referring to the aftermath of the February 8, 2024 elections, the statement claimed that the imposed setup has led to worsening public hardships. It said citizens are facing prolonged and unannounced load-shedding, low voltage issues, and severe water shortages, while education and health sectors are also in decline due to government negligence.
It further stated that closure of trade routes in Chaman, rising unemployment, and inflation have severely affected the purchasing power of ordinary citizens, while law and order conditions have deteriorated.
The party expressed concern over incidents of firing on civilians by security forces and demanded transparent investigations and action against those responsible.
It also raised alarm over rising crime, including theft, robbery, and drug trafficking in Chaman, saying that such conditions reflect poor governance and administrative failure.
In its concluding remarks, PkMAP urged the people of Pashtunkhwa to unite against discrimination, economic marginalization, and what it described as “ongoing injustices,” asserting that the party represents the rights of oppressed nations and will continue its struggle for justice, equality, and democratic rights.
