JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Wasey Criticizes Balochistan Government, Calls for Immediate Action on Security Crisis

Quetta: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Balochistan chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has sharply criticized the provincial government, alleging that unelected and “artificial” political leadership has pushed Balochistan into worsening insecurity, economic decline, and administrative failure.

Addressing the media, Abdul Wasey said JUI-F remains the province’s largest representative political force because of its commitment to constitutional politics and the protection of Balochistan’s political, economic, and constitutional rights.

He claimed the party had played a decisive role in securing greater financial resources for Balochistan through the Seventh National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, arguing that the inclusion of factors such as poverty, underdevelopment, geographical size, inverse population density, and fiscal discipline in the resource distribution formula significantly increased the province’s financial share.

The senator also said JUI-F had consistently advocated for a larger share for Balochistan in the Reko Diq mining project and maintained that the province’s natural resources should primarily benefit its people. He added that national projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could only deliver meaningful development if they ensured local employment, fair revenue sharing, effective security measures, and the participation of local communities in decision-making.

Criticizing successive provincial administrations, Abdul Wasey said governments lacking a genuine public mandate had failed to address Balochistan’s longstanding challenges, resulting in rising unemployment, poverty, economic stagnation, and deteriorating governance.

He further alleged that Balochistan is currently facing its worst law and order situation, claiming incidents of killings, kidnappings for ransom, targeted attacks, terrorism, and armed assaults on highways have become increasingly common while the government has failed to restore public confidence.

The JUI-F leader also condemned the reported abduction of laborers in Shahrag, describing the incident as inhumane and calling for the immediate, safe, and dignified recovery of all those kidnapped. He urged authorities to bring those responsible to justice and adopt effective measures to restore peace and strengthen the writ of the state across Balochistan.

Abdul Wasey said the government must move beyond statements and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, secure highways, and fulfill its constitutional responsibility to maintain law and order.
