CM Balochistan Reviews PPL Progress, Expresses Concern Over Gas Supply, Scholarships, and Local Hiring

QUETTA: **Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti**, chaired a high-level meeting with **PPL (Pakistan Petroleum Limited) officials and provincial government representatives** to review the progress of agreements between the company and the government.
During the meeting, the CM expressed **serious concern** over delays in gas supply to Sui Town’s Totah Colony, Adil Khan, and Phong Colony, as well as **slow implementation of scholarships, local hiring, and other commitments**.
He said it is **regrettable** that residents of Sui Town are still deprived of gas from Sui, forcing women to cook on wood fires. Despite agreements with PPL, promises regarding **scholarships, local quota hiring, and recruitment** remain unfulfilled. He emphasized that delaying local appointments, including watchmen under the local quota, is unacceptable.
The Chief Minister warned that **no new agreements will be signed until full implementation of the current agreements**. “The welfare of the people comes first, and local residents have the primary right to resources,” he said. He directed that **vacant positions under the local quota be filled immediately**, and warned that if practical progress is not achieved within the prescribed timeline, **other options will be considered**.
PPL officials informed the meeting that **80% of the gas supply work has been completed**, and all pending issues will be addressed promptly to ensure that **public needs and concerns are met**.
