Man Killed, Woman Critically Injured After Family Loses Way in Balochistan Following Alleged Google Maps Misdirection
QUETTA: A man was killed and a woman critically injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a family traveling from Karachi to Quetta in Balochistan’s Dasht area, reportedly after they lost their way due to alleged incorrect directions from Google Maps.
According to local sources, the family, residents of Karachi’s Nazimabad area, mistakenly entered the Khand area of Dasht after allegedly following the navigation app’s route. Their vehicle reportedly came under attack by unidentified armed assailants.
The head of the family, identified as Ali Jameel, was killed on the spot, while a woman sustained critical injuries. Two young children traveling in the vehicle escaped unharmed.
The injured woman was shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding the incident, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
