Balochistan Government Vows Justice After Deadly Attack on Family in Dasht

Quetta: Balochistan Government Spokesperson and Special Assistant for Home Affairs Babar Yousafzai has condemned the deadly attack on a family traveling from Quetta to Karachi, describing it as a tragic act of terrorism and vowing to bring those responsible to justice.

In a video statement, Yousafzai said the family was traveling from Quetta to Karachi when they reportedly lost their way or were misdirected by Google Maps, eventually reaching the Khand area of Dasht. According to the provincial government, armed militants attacked the family’s vehicle, killing the head of the family at the scene.

The female passenger sustained serious injuries, while two young children survived the attack unharmed.

Yousafzai alleged that militants belonging to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) were responsible for the assault, accusing the group of deliberately targeting innocent civilians and other soft targets.

He said the provincial government immediately arranged for the transfer of the deceased’s body and the injured woman to Karachi, where she is receiving medical treatment.

“We are determined to bring the terrorists involved in this heinous crime to justice and will continue our efforts to eliminate terrorism completely,” Yousafzai said.

The provincial official also questioned organizations that advocate for human rights, asking whether the surviving children did not deserve the love, care, and protection of their father. He said the attack had permanently deprived them of their father’s support and urged rights groups to condemn such acts of violence against innocent civilians.

Authorities have said investigations into the incident are ongoing, while security agencies continue efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
