11 Miners Confirmed Dead in Sorange Coal Mine Tragedy; Balochistan Government Announces Compensation
Quetta: Balochistan Minister for Mines and Minerals Mir Shoaib Nosherwani has confirmed that the bodies of 11 miners have so far been recovered from the site of the coal mine accident in the Sorange area near Quetta, while rescue operations remain underway.
The minister said rescue teams are continuing the operation despite extremely challenging conditions and are utilizing all available resources to reach the remaining workers trapped inside the mine.
He stated that the Balochistan government is closely monitoring the rescue operation and is committed to ensuring that no effort is spared in the ongoing emergency response.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Nosherwani said the provincial government stands with the families of the deceased miners during this difficult time.
The minister also announced that the families of each miner who lost their life in the accident will receive Rs. 500,000 in compensation, while each injured worker will be provided Rs. 300,000 in financial assistance.
He added that a comprehensive investigation into the incident will be conducted to determine its causes and that safety measures in the mining sector will be reviewed and strengthened to help prevent similar accidents in the future.
