Pakistan Reaffirms Full Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

Pakistan has reaffirmed its full support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam. During the call, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemned any action that seeks to undermine the country’s dignity or unity.
The Somali foreign minister thanked Pakistan for standing by Somalia and for its continued and steadfast support. He also sought Pakistan’s assistance in raising Somalia’s issues at the United Nations Security Council.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar assured Somalia of Pakistan’s full support at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
It is noteworthy that Israel has recognized Somaliland as a state, a move that has drawn strong reactions from Islamic countries. A joint communiqué on the issue has been signed by Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Sudan, along with Türkiye, Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya and Maldives.
According to the Foreign Office, Nigeria, Oman and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have also endorsed the joint position.
