US-Iran Talks to Begin in Switzerland Following Islamabad Memorandum Signing

WASHINGTON/BRUGGENSTOCK: A new round of talks between the United States and Iran is set to begin today in the Swiss city of Bürgenstock following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
According to Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry, representatives of the United States and Iran will meet in Bürgenstock to discuss the implementation of the agreement. Representatives from Pakistan and Qatar, who played mediating roles in the process, are also expected to attend the meeting.
However, it remains unclear which specific delegates from the two countries will participate in the talks and what format the discussions will take.
The Swiss government has not released further details regarding the meeting. References to the participation of additional countries were also omitted from the latest official statement.
The development comes a day after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signing the document as a mediator.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the memorandum carries the signatures of both the American and Iranian presidents, marking a significant step in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and advancing dialogue between the two countries.
