Drone Attack Sparks Fire on Ship Near Yemen, 24 Pakistanis at Risk

Sanaa: A ship caught fire after a drone attack near Yemen’s Ras Issa port, putting the lives of 24 Pakistani crew members in danger, diplomatic sources confirmed.

The vessel, reportedly carrying oil from Tehran to Yemen, was engulfed in flames following the strike. Sources said the crew was temporarily evacuated but later forced back onto the burning ship without any firefighting equipment.

The Pakistani crew continues to face life-threatening conditions and has appealed to local rescue authorities and the Government of Pakistan for urgent assistance.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions in the region. Yemen’s Houthi fighters frequently launch missiles toward Israel in retaliation for attacks on Gaza, while Israeli strikes have repeatedly targeted Yemeni ports, oil refineries, and key installations. Earlier this year, the United States also participated in airstrikes, though later President Donald Trump ordered a halt to bombing campaigns against the Houthis.
