Public Holiday Announced in Karachi on June 8 for Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA)

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local holiday on June 8 on the occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA).
According to an official notification issued by the Human Resource Management Department of KMC, the holiday will be observed on 22 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to June 8. The decision has been taken in line with a resolution approved by the Karachi City Council.
The notification stated that all offices under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the day of the holiday. However, departments and institutions providing essential and emergency services will continue to operate as usual to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.
KMC officials confirmed that the decision has been formally approved by the competent authority and all relevant departments have been informed to ensure effective implementation of the notification.
Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) shrine is one of the most important religious and historical landmarks in Karachi. Every year, thousands of devotees from across the country participate in the Urs celebrations, which include various religious and spiritual activities. Special arrangements are also made for security and facilitation of visitors during the event.
Citizens have welcomed the announcement of the holiday and expressed hope that the Urs celebrations will be held in a peaceful environment with proper arrangements for pilgrims and visitors.
