Entire Ghaziabad Police Station Staff Suspended After Alleged Rape Case Involving ASI in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore Police have suspended the entire staff of Ghaziabad Police Station, including the Station House Officer (SHO), following allegations that an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) sexually assaulted a mentally challenged girl and concerns over negligence in handling the case.

According to media reports, DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran conducted a late-night emergency visit to Ghaziabad Police Station and took serious notice of delays in registering and pursuing the case, the failure to promptly inform senior officers, and alleged professional misconduct.

Following a preliminary inquiry, the DIG ordered the immediate suspension of SHO Shahryar along with the entire police station staff. SHO Shahryar has been replaced by Ali Zaib Dastgir, who has been appointed as the new SHO to ensure a transparent investigation and smooth administrative functioning.

Police officials said that a total of 78 personnel have been suspended, including the SHO, sub-inspectors, eight ASIs, five head constables, front desk staff, the station clerk, and drivers. Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against all suspended officials.

The action follows allegations that ASI Imran, who was serving in the investigation wing of Ghaziabad Police Station, sexually assaulted a mentally challenged girl. After a complaint was filed by the victim’s family, police registered a case against the accused and arrested him.

Police authorities stated that the investigation is being conducted on merit and that anyone found responsible for negligence or misconduct during the inquiry will face further legal and departmental action in accordance with the law.
