Tensions Escalate in PTI as Sohail Afridi and Ali Amin Gandapur Engage in Heated Exchange

ISLAMABAD: Internal differences within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have intensified after a heated exchange took place between Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the party’s parliamentary WhatsApp group.
According to details, the issue emerged during a discussion in the PTI parliamentary group where Chief Minister Sohail Afridi posted a message stating that certain elements within and outside the party were attempting to weaken the government.
In response, Ali Amin Gandapur objected to the statement and questioned why the Chief Minister was speaking in vague terms instead of naming those allegedly involved. He remarked that indirect references such as “this and that” should be avoided.
Gandapur further stated that the Chief Minister was not authorized to issue certificates of loyalty or betrayal. He said that it should be proven through actions rather than words who is truly with PTI founder Imran Khan and who is not.
He added that decision-making authority lies solely with Imran Khan, and alleged that some individuals were holding secret meetings while making public statements aimed at others.
Gandapur advised the Chief Minister to focus on assigned responsibilities and reiterated that party members recognize only Imran Khan as their leader.
