Young Doctors Association Balochistan Condemns Transfer of Civil Hospital Trauma Center Machinery, Calls It an Attack on Public Healthcare

Quetta (Kudrat News) — The spokesperson for the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has strongly condemned the transfer of valuable machinery from the Trauma Center of Civil Hospital Quetta to the Trauma Center on Sariab Road, terming the move a direct attack on public healthcare, emergency services, and the government health system.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the association said the Health Department forcefully shifted the machinery in broad daylight, describing the act as not merely a transfer of equipment but an open assault on public treatment facilities and emergency healthcare services.

The YDA alleged that certain influential officials within the Health Department consider themselves above the law, which is why such “illegal and unfortunate” actions continue to occur. The statement claimed that previously valuable machinery from Sheikh Zayed Hospital Sariab had also been secretly transferred to the Balochistan Institute of Cardiology, and now the Trauma Center at Civil Hospital had been targeted.

According to the association, these actions clearly indicate a systematic policy aimed at weakening and destroying public healthcare institutions instead of strengthening them.

The statement further said that the fully operational Trauma Center, where trained doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff have been providing emergency treatment to hundreds of patients for years, was being deliberately rendered ineffective. The association described the move as anti-public, anti-doctor, and anti-institutional.

The YDA stated that if the transfer had been legal, transparent, and in the public interest, the machinery would not have been shifted in such a forceful manner. It accused certain Health Department officials of damaging public institutions to conceal incompetence, poor planning, and personal interests.

The association also criticized the Balochistan government for claiming in the media that modern trauma centers would be established across the province while allegedly dismantling an already functional and much-needed trauma facility.

Referring to recent burn incidents in Balochistan, the statement said several patients had already lost their lives due to inadequate facilities, poor management, and flawed policies, yet the department had failed to learn from those tragedies.

The Young Doctors Association demanded the immediate return of all machinery shifted from the Civil Hospital Trauma Center, restoration of the center’s full operations, and strict action against officials involved in the move.

It also called for burn centers to be officially declared units of Civil Hospital Quetta and handed over to burn and plastic surgery specialists. The association further demanded an end to political interference, favoritism, and anti-institutional policies within the Health Department.

The statement warned that the YDA is in contact with political parties, lawyers, civil society organizations, journalist bodies, and public representatives regarding the issue. It cautioned that if the decision is not reversed immediately, a strong protest movement and public reaction would be launched, holding the Balochistan government and Health Department fully responsible.

The association vowed not to remain silent against what it described as attacks on public hospitals, public resources, and patient care, and pledged resistance against any conspiracy to weaken the health sector in Balochistan.
