Judicial remand in nine drug cases against Anmol alias Pinky declared void by Karachi court

ISLAMABAD (Kuwait News Desk) — A sessions court in Karachi’s South district has declared the judicial remand order issued by a duty magistrate in nine drug-related cases against accused Anmol alias Pinky null and void.

The cases were heard in the Sessions Court South in connection with multiple narcotics FIRs registered at the Gizri and Darakhshan police stations.

According to court proceedings, investigating officers had filed revision petitions in five cases registered at Darakhshan police station and four cases registered at Gizri police station, which the court accepted.

The court observed that the special duty magistrate had issued contradictory orders in different cases, terming the action unlawful. It noted that in one case related to Baghdadi police station, police remand was granted, while in other cases the accused was sent to judicial custody, creating legal inconsistency and confusion.

The sessions court ruled that an accused cannot simultaneously be placed in police custody in one case and judicial custody in others, declaring such orders legally invalid.

The court directed that the magistrate’s judicial remand orders be treated as cancelled and that the accused be considered on police remand until May 17.

It further ordered that the accused be produced before the relevant magistrate for further remand proceedings, instructing that all applications be decided strictly in accordance with the law.
