Sohail Afridi Says Imran Khan “Free in Spirit” Despite Imprisonment, Launches Strong Political Attack on Federal Setup

Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has said that the walls of Adiala Jail can imprison Imran Khan physically for some time, but they cannot restrict his political freedom and ideology.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Afridi said that Imran Khan has always spoken the truth and raised his voice for Pakistan’s sovereignty and self-respect. He added that, according to him, “truth always stands with those who uphold justice,” and referred to recent developments regarding the cypher controversy as validation of Imran Khan’s stance.
The Chief Minister said that Imran Khan has consistently advocated for national integrity and refused to accept “subjugation,” describing him as a free individual who envisions a free nation. He stated that imprisonment may confine a person physically, but cannot restrict their thoughts or influence.
Referring to political opponents, Afridi alleged that those occupying power through “unfair means” may appear free but are, in his words, not truly independent. He also criticized the current political and economic situation of the country, claiming that Pakistan is facing rising inflation, debt, and unemployment.
He further said that, in his view, efforts are being made to weaken Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and suppress Imran Khan’s political narrative, but insisted that such attempts would not succeed. Afridi asserted that Imran Khan remains the only leader capable of stabilizing the country, improving the economy, and uniting the nation.
The statement also reiterated calls for Imran Khan’s return to political leadership, describing it as both a “public demand” and a “national necessity.”
