Balochistan Government Has Completely Failed on Law and Order, Says Maulana Abdul Wasey

QUETTA – Maulana Abdul Wasey, provincial chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Balochistan, along with the party’s provincial general secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah, has strongly criticized the provincial government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.

In a joint statement, the JUI leaders said the government imposed on Balochistan had “completely failed,” alleging that worsening insecurity, target killings, kidnappings, highway closures, killings of passengers, extortion from traders, and increasing incidents of violence had made life miserable for the people.

They claimed that the security situation in the province had become “thirty times worse” compared to three years ago, adding that every day brings fresh incidents of violence, protests, and unrest.

The leaders questioned whether Balochistan had become a “laboratory for failed policies and selected rulers,” criticizing authorities for relying on “paper claims and false statistics” instead of addressing ground realities.

According to the statement, traders, ordinary citizens, and youth are living in fear and uncertainty, while business activities, travel, and employment opportunities continue to suffer due to insecurity.

The JUI leaders also alleged that border closures had deprived thousands of families of their livelihoods and claimed that agriculture in the province was facing severe decline.

They criticized the proposed mines and minerals legislation, alleging that local communities were being deprived of ownership rights over their lands and resources.

Referring to statements made by provincial ministers and lawmakers in recent days regarding security concerns, the JUI leaders said it reflected the government’s own admission of failure.

“When ministers themselves say they cannot safely travel to their constituencies, what hope remains for ordinary citizens?” the statement said.

The leaders argued that peace and stability cannot be restored through force alone but require public trust, political stability, justice, and genuine democratic representation.

They further said that the party’s upcoming public gathering in Pishin would serve as a strong public voice for the rights of Balochistan’s people and a protest against insecurity and what they termed “selected rule.”

The statement concluded by saying that JUI would continue to raise its voice for the rights, peace, resources, and future of the people of Balochistan at every forum.
