Obama Criticizes Trump’s Iran Policy, Defends Nuclear Deal Approach

Former US President Barack Obama has openly criticized President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran, saying his administration successfully managed the Iranian nuclear issue without resorting to war.
In an interview, Obama stated that his administration had succeeded in removing 97 percent of Iran’s enriched uranium through diplomacy and international agreements. He said the process was carried out peacefully without firing missiles, causing mass casualties, or disrupting the Strait of Hormuz.
“There is no doubt that we achieved our objectives without killing large numbers of people or pushing the region into further instability,” Obama said.
The former president also claimed that the goals behind Trump’s military-focused Iran policy had not been achieved.
Obama’s remarks came days after Trump strongly criticized him on the social media platform Truth Social. Trump accused Obama of being soft on Iran and alleged that his administration provided Tehran with hundreds of billions of dollars, including $1.7 billion in cash delivered by aircraft.
Trump argued that the financial relief allowed Iran to regain strength and stability, calling Obama a “weak and naïve” president.
The exchange highlights the continuing political divide over the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The deal was negotiated during Obama’s presidency but later abandoned by Trump during his first term in office.
