Field Marshal Asim Munir Says ‘Battle of Truth’ Was a Clash of Ideologies, Not Just Two Nations

RAWALPINDI: Syed Asim Munir said the “Battle of Truth” was not merely a conflict between two countries but a decisive confrontation between two ideologies in which Pakistan delivered a “historic defeat” to its enemy.

Addressing a special ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) to commemorate the operation, the army chief said the day marked a moment of pride for the nation and the armed forces.

He said that one year earlier, Pakistan had achieved an unprecedented success after the enemy attempted to undermine the country’s national resolve, adding that the armed forces responded with full strength and determination.

According to Asim Munir, the conflict that took place between May 6 and May 10, 2025, was not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of hostility and allegations against Pakistan.

He said India had sought to isolate Pakistan diplomatically and alter the regional balance of power through military aggression, but failed to achieve its objectives.

“The enemy forgot that Pakistan’s armed forces have never bowed before power and never will,” he said.

The army chief stated that Pakistan’s air force successfully targeted enemy aircraft and military installations during the confrontation, while missile operations hit more than 26 military targets.

He claimed that India suffered heavy financial and human losses during the conflict and would continue to bear the consequences in the future.

Asim Munir said modern warfare is increasingly based on multi-domain operations involving drones, cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, and long-range weapons.

Paying tribute to civilians who lost their lives, including women and children, he said the sacrifices of martyrs would always remain a national trust.

He also praised the role of the Pakistani public, saying the nation stood “like a wall of steel” in support of the armed forces during the conflict.

Referring to regional diplomacy, the army chief thanked the leadership of the United States and Iran for trusting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, adding that the country is currently hosting important peace negotiations through “effective and neutral diplomacy.”

He further accused India of supporting terrorism after failing in conventional warfare and called on Afghanistan to eliminate militant safe havens on its territory.

Asim Munir also reiterated Pakistan’s political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Kashmir.

Earlier, chiefs of the armed forces visited the martyrs’ memorial at GHQ, laid floral wreaths, and offered prayers. A ceremonial guard of honor was also presented to the military leadership.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to face all internal and external challenges with the support of the nation.
