Islamabad High Court Grants Relief to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in £190 Million Case

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday accepted a request to adjourn the hearing in the £190 million case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the case. NAB Special Prosecutors Javed Arshad and Rafi Maqsood appeared before the court, while counsel for the petitioners, Barrister Salman Safdar, was absent.
Following court instructions, a miscellaneous application seeking adjournment of the hearing was read out in court. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor opposed the request, arguing that repeated references were being made to meetings and questioning why details of such meetings were also appearing in the media.
Responding to the remarks, petitioners’ lawyer Shoaib Shaheen said the case should be argued in court rather than in the media. Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar then remarked humorously, “At least today we got to hear Shoaib Shaheen’s voice.”
The court granted what it described as a final opportunity for arguments on the appeals and adjourned the hearing until May 20.
Chief Justice Dogar observed that the court was accepting the adjournment request considering the sensitivity of the case and expressed hope that proceedings would move forward at the next hearing.
