Public Concern Rising Over Conversion of Tribal Lands into “No-Go Areas” in Quetta, Says Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party has expressed serious concern over the reported conversion of tribal ancestral lands in Quetta’s surrounding areas into restricted or “no-go” zones, saying the move has increased public unrest.
In a press release, the party strongly condemned what it described as the militarization of several suburban areas, including Kali Sra Ghurghai, Kali Malik Shabk, Kali Sra Khala, Hanna Urak, Shaban, and other nearby localities.
The statement alleged that security forces and relevant institutions have declared these areas as military zones, restricting public movement and affecting access to ancestral lands belonging to local tribes.
The party claimed that such actions, including the imposition of restrictions, vehicle searches, road blockades, and the creation of fear and uncertainty, are aimed at displacing local residents from their centuries-old settlements. It further stated that these measures violate basic human rights and constitutional protections.
The statement emphasized that no state institution is above the law and condemned any attempt to acquire land through force. It said that land acquisition must follow legal procedures, including proper notice, compensation, and consent of the affected population.
The party also alleged that in previous cases, compensation promised for land acquisition was not paid to local landowners.
It demanded transparent investigations and accountability regarding the alleged land occupation in the mentioned areas, warning that such actions would not be tolerated.
The party further announced that it would consider launching protests with public support if the situation continues, holding the government responsible for any escalation in unrest.
