Court Dismisses Imran Khan Meeting Request, Calls It ‘Unnecessary and Frivolous’

Rawalpindi: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has dismissed a request seeking permission to meet Imran Khan, terming it unnecessary and frivolous.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the applicant and directed that the amount be deposited with the dispensary of the District Bar Rawalpindi. The court further stated that the funds should be used for the treatment of poor patients.
In its remarks, the court noted that procedures regarding meetings at Adiala Jail have already been defined by the Islamabad High Court, and that trial courts cannot issue contradictory orders on the matter.
The judge observed that Imran Khan is currently on bail in the GHQ attack case and is not under judicial custody. The court added that similar applications had been filed earlier and that the petitioner should approach the relevant forum instead of wasting judicial time.
The application was filed by lawyer Faisal Malik, seeking permission to meet Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 GHQ attack case.
