US Hands Over Seized Iranian Vessel MV Tosca to Pakistan for Repatriation to Tehran

United States has officially transferred the Iranian cargo vessel *MV Tosca*, along with its crew, to Pakistan to facilitate its return to Iran, according to international media reports.
The development is being viewed as a significant step toward easing recent tensions between Washington and Tehran.
A spokesperson for the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Captain Tom Hawkins, confirmed that the vessel and its 22-member crew were handed over to Pakistan with the sole purpose of ensuring their safe repatriation to Iran.
The ship was reportedly seized by U.S. forces on April 19 near the port of Chabahar on allegations of violating international sanctions. Iran had strongly condemned the seizure, calling it an act of “maritime piracy.” At the time of detention, the vessel carried 28 crew members.
Officials say six crew members were earlier transferred through a regional country for return to Iran, while the remaining 22 are now expected to be repatriated via Pakistan.
The vessel’s transfer is seen as part of broader diplomatic and humanitarian arrangements aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.
