Trump Praises Pakistan’s Leadership, Expresses Concern Over Iran Deal Proposals

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump has said he holds great respect for Pakistan’s Field Marshal and Prime Minister while expressing dissatisfaction over Iran’s latest proposals regarding a potential deal.
Speaking to journalists at the White House, Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership, stating that he has “great respect” for both the country’s Prime Minister and Field Marshal.
On Iran, Trump said that Tehran is interested in reaching an agreement but he is not satisfied with the new proposals put forward. He emphasized that he does not want Iran to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
“We have already presented our final proposals to Iran,” Trump said, adding that discussions with Tehran are ongoing via telephone. He noted that while Iran has accepted certain points regarding a ceasefire, they are “not enough.”
Trump also expressed uncertainty about reaching a final agreement, saying the outcome depends on Iran’s willingness to make a deal. He claimed that Iran’s leadership appears divided and confused.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed receiving new proposals from Iran aimed at ending the conflict, but declined to disclose details, citing the confidentiality of diplomatic negotiations.
According to reports, Iran submitted the proposals through Pakistani mediators, seeking progress in negotiations and a possible ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also been in contact with counterparts from regional countries including Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Azerbaijan to discuss the situation.
Araghchi reiterated Iran’s stance on negotiations and regional stability, stating that efforts are ongoing to reduce tensions. He also criticized the United States over its claims regarding war costs and damages.
Reports further suggest that the U.S. administration is considering expanding its blockade of Iranian ports, potentially including long-term restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, U.S. officials have reportedly reintroduced nuclear-related demands into the negotiation framework, including assurances from Iran regarding uranium enrichment and nuclear facility activities.
