IG Balochistan: Investigation System Must Be Strengthened for Modern Policing and Public Service

Quetta – Inspector General of Police Balochistan has said that strengthening the investigation system is essential to ensure modern policing and effective public service delivery in the province.
Addressing a delegation of under-training Deputy Superintendents of Police from Sindh visiting the Central Police Office Quetta under the National Police Academy Islamabad, the IG emphasized that self-accountability and individual responsibility play a key role in eliminating crime from society.
He said that protecting the lives and property of citizens and resolving their issues without delay is the fundamental duty of the police, adding that supervisory officers play a crucial role in fulfilling this responsibility.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers including Additional IG Operations, DIG Finance, AIG Operations, AIG IT, AIG Legal, AIG Security Division, and other officials.
The IG urged young officers to adopt modern policing practices, professionalism, and a service-oriented approach. He advised them to strengthen relations between police and the public and focus on learning from field experience.
He stressed that the future of policing is IT-based and encouraged officers to focus on developing modern skills and adopting new policing trends.
Addressing women officers, the IG said they can serve as role models for other women and should actively work to resolve issues faced by female citizens.
He further stated that reforms in Balochistan Police are ongoing, including the training of former Levies personnel merged from “B Area to A Area,” which began on January 1, 2026, as part of a three-month professional training program.
The IG also praised the performance of different police ranges in a recent crackdown on proclaimed offenders, announcing cash rewards for districts based on performance. Kachhi was awarded Rs. 250,000, Hub Rs. 200,000, Quetta Rs. 150,000, Sibi Rs. 100,000, while Kohlu and Ziarat were awarded Rs. 75,000 each for achieving 100% arrest targets.
He appreciated the efforts of senior officers and said that all regional police units demonstrated discipline and dedication during the campaign.
Highlighting public service initiatives, the IG said that open courts are being held under DIGs and SSPs to ensure direct public access to police leadership for grievance redressal.
He added that modern initiatives such as mobile units for character certificates and e-licensing, along with Safe City surveillance systems, are being implemented to reduce public inconvenience and improve policing efficiency.
