Billions Lost in Theft Scandal at Pakistan Steel Mills, FIA Uncovers Internal Collusion

Karachi (Kudrat Daily) – A major theft scandal involving billions of rupees has been uncovered at Pakistan Steel Mills, with investigations by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) revealing an organized network of internal collusion.
According to reports, the inquiry was launched following a complaint by the Ministry of Industries and Production. Progress in the investigation has exposed the involvement of insiders in the large-scale theft.
FIA officials stated that valuable machinery, cables, and scrap material were repeatedly smuggled out of the mill without proper gate passes. Evidence has been obtained indicating the involvement of security personnel and DSF staff in facilitating the illegal activity.
The recovery of a 22-wheeler trailer loaded with 36 tons of stolen government material played a key role in exposing the network. Authorities say the operation involved a coordinated group comprising employees, security staff, and scrap dealers.
Investigators also revealed that there were attempts to suppress the case by converting the FIR into a “C Class” report. The FIA has now included this aspect in its probe.
Officials added that further arrests are expected as key suspects and facilitators behind the theft are being identified.
