Sindh Government Ends Wheat Sales Limit to Benefit Small Farmers: Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the removal of the wheat sales limit and the condition of five bags per acre will directly benefit small farmers across the province.
In a statement, Memon said that farmers will now be able to sell their produce at government procurement centers without any restrictions. He added that the government’s decision to set a wheat support price at Rs3,500 per maund and a procurement target of 1 million metric tons reflects its pro-farmer policies.
He further stated that instructions have been issued to accelerate the wheat procurement campaign, especially in districts with lower procurement, to ensure that targets are achieved on time. Memon highlighted that the timely provision of fuel subsidies through Sindh Bank within a day has improved transparency and efficiency, with billions of rupees already disbursed to farmers.
The senior minister said that district administrations, assistant commissioners, and relevant officials have been directed to remain active in the field to facilitate farmers and resolve their issues. He urged growers to sell wheat at official procurement centers to benefit from immediate payments and government support services.
Sharjeel Memon reaffirmed that the Sindh government will continue to protect farmers’ interests and ensure food security in the province through all possible measures.
