Trump Claims Iran Deal Could Be Signed Today as Talks Face Uncertainty

Washington: Donald Trump has claimed that a deal with Iran could be signed as early as today, raising expectations of a major diplomatic breakthrough, despite conflicting signals from Tehran.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said negotiations with Iran are progressing and emphasized that both sides now appear serious about reaching an agreement. He added that a US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is expected to travel to Pakistan within hours to take part in talks.

According to Trump, the delegation also includes envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner. He further stated that he is willing to meet Iranian leadership personally if significant progress is achieved.

Trump reiterated that a key condition for any agreement would be Iran’s complete abandonment of its nuclear weapons program, adding that such a step could lead to a more stable future for the country.

However, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dismissed the possibility of immediate talks. He said Iran currently has no intention of entering a new round of negotiations, citing a lack of trust due to previous experiences with the United States.

Baghaei accused Washington of violating ceasefire agreements and engaging in aggressive actions, stating that Iran has informed a Pakistani mediator that it cannot rely on the US under the present circumstances. He also alleged that recent US actions, including what he described as a naval blockade, have further undermined trust.

He warned that while Iran seeks peaceful solutions, it is prepared to respond to any new aggression, emphasizing that the country will continue to defend its national interests.
