US Warns of Strikes on Iran’s Infrastructure to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Islamabad: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that the United States could target Iran’s infrastructure if necessary to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Hegseth stated that Iran is attempting to reactivate missile launchers that were previously destroyed in strikes, adding that the U.S. is closely monitoring the movement of Iranian military assets.

He reiterated that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances and confirmed that U.S. negotiators are currently engaged in talks with Tehran.

According to Hegseth, if Iran refuses to reach an agreement, the United States is prepared to resume military action. He also indicated that maintaining access to the Strait of Hormuz is a priority, and strikes on Iranian infrastructure remain an option.

The U.S. defense chief further said that Iran cannot match American military capabilities and that the blockade would continue for as long as necessary.

He added that any threats against commercial shipping would be treated not as control of waterways but as acts of piracy.
