Pakistan Opens Iran Transit Corridor for Central Asia, First Meat Shipment Sent to Uzbekistan

Karachi: Pakistan has officially launched the Iran Transit Corridor for Central Asia, marking a major development in regional trade connectivity.
According to a customs statement, goods transported from Gwadar have reached the Rameedan border area in Iran, from where they will be further transported to Central Asian countries.
The statement added that Pakistan has dispatched its first export consignment from Karachi to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The shipment consists of frozen meat, which will pass through Iran via the Rameedan border before reaching Central Asian markets.
The customs department confirmed that this new trade route has established a direct overland connectivity channel between Pakistan and Central Asia through Iran.
Officials said the Pakistan-Iran Transit Corridor has been launched under the TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) system, which provides an efficient and alternative land route for exports to Iran and Central Asian states.
They added that the initiative is expected to boost trade activities, reduce transportation time, and create new opportunities for Pakistan’s industry and commerce by improving regional connectivity.
