UK PM Keir Starmer Urges De-escalation After Iran-US Talks in Pakistan End Without Breakthrough

Islamabad: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on Iran and the United States to find a way forward and maintain the ceasefire after مذاکرات hosted in Islamabad ended without a final agreement.
According to Downing Street, Starmer made the appeal following the inconclusive talks between Tehran and Washington, emphasizing the urgent need to reduce tensions and work toward peace. During a key conversation with Haitham bin Tariq, he stressed that استمرار of the ceasefire remains “critically important,” noting that all sides have so far avoided further escalation.
The statement comes at a time of heightened uncertainty after the مذاکرات failed to produce a breakthrough, particularly on core issues between the two sides.
Meanwhile, UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting, speaking on the BBC program Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, described the outcome of the initial مذاکرات in Pakistan as “deeply disappointing” due to the absence of any conclusive agreement.
However, Streeting defended the British government’s decision to stay out of the Middle East conflict, explaining that the UK had deliberately chosen not to become directly involved in the crisis.
The UK government reiterated its position that diplomatic engagement and restraint are essential to prevent further instability in the region.
