Indian Analyst Questions India’s Role After Pakistan Brokers Iran–US Ceasefire

New Delhi: A senior Indian journalist, Dr. Rakesh Pathak, has raised concerns over India’s diminishing diplomatic visibility following Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

Speaking during a television program, Pathak remarked that while Pakistan has been actively brokering ceasefires and hosting negotiations in Islamabad, India has largely remained absent from the process. He noted that “not even by mistake has anyone mentioned India,” questioning the country’s current standing in global diplomacy.

Pathak further asked what India has gained from the Iran–US conflict and where it stands after Pakistan’s involvement in securing the ceasefire. He criticized what he described as policy missteps, suggesting that India may face long-term consequences for recent decisions.

Reflecting on history, he pointed out that India had previously played roles in international conflict resolution, including during the Korean War and in Southeast Asian conflicts, but said the situation today appears markedly different.

He added that while the world was deeply concerned about the escalating tensions, few countries turned to India for mediation, calling it a significant diplomatic setback for India.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions on regional influence and shifting geopolitical dynamics following the recent ceasefire agreement.
