Woman Brutally Assaulted in Lahore; Husband Arrested After Failed Attempt to Label Her Mentally Ill

Lahore: A case of severe domestic violence has emerged from Toba Tek Singh, where police swiftly arrested a man accused of brutally assaulting his wife and attempting to falsely portray her as mentally ill.

According to police officials, action was taken after the victim contacted the Virtual Women Police Station helpline. The woman reported that her husband had been abusing her for a long time and was trying to declare her mentally unstable to cover up his actions.

During initial investigation, the accused denied all allegations. However, video evidence provided by the victim confirmed the abuse, prompting immediate police intervention.

Authorities dispatched a female police officer to the scene and ensured the victim’s safety. A video call was arranged between the victim and Safe City officials, and the case was escalated to senior officers. The victim also underwent a medico-legal examination.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered against the suspect, who is now in custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority urged women facing emergencies to call helpline 15 and press 2 to connect with the Virtual Women Police Station. Complaints can also be registered through video calls via the Safe City Public Safety App.

Officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring the protection of women and timely delivery of justice.
