Mystery Deepens: Karachi’s Missing Doctor Mishal Kareem Still Untraced After a Month, Search Resumes

KARACHI: The mystery surrounding the disappearance of **Dr. Mishal Kareem** continues to baffle authorities, as she remains missing a month after she allegedly jumped into a stormwater drain in Karachi’s **Gulshan-e-Iqbal** area on **September 14**.
Rescue teams from the **Edhi Foundation** have once again resumed search operations after previous efforts failed to yield any clues. According to the Edhi spokesperson, Dr. Mishal, aged 26, allegedly jumped into a nullah near **Sohrab Goth** in an apparent suicide attempt. Despite days of extensive searches, no trace of her body was found.
Following repeated appeals from her family, Edhi’s marine rescue team relaunched the search on **October 18**, but as of Saturday evening, no progress was reported.
Police officials confirmed that **Dr. Mishal’s husband, Hasnain**, has already been taken into custody. A case has been registered at **Mobina Town Police Station** on the complaint of the victim’s father, who alleged that his son-in-law had an illicit relationship with a female colleague at his bank and often subjected Mishal to domestic violence.
The grieving father claimed that persistent abuse and betrayal drove his daughter to take the extreme step. Authorities, however, say the case remains open, with no conclusive evidence yet of suicide or foul play.
