Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that representatives from Iran and the United States have arrived in Pakistan following a “sincere invitation,” with high-level talks set to take place in Islamabad today.

Addressing the nation, the prime minister said that in a sensitive regional situation, Pakistan’s leadership played a confident role in persuading both sides to agree to a temporary ceasefire. He noted that while the parties were previously on the brink of confrontation, they have now agreed to pursue dialogue as a means to resolve their differences.

Sharif emphasized that although a temporary ceasefire has been achieved, the next and more challenging phase will be securing a permanent and lasting truce. He described this stage as a “make-or-break” moment for peace in the region.

The prime minister also acknowledged the efforts of Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar, praising their roles in facilitating dialogue and helping bring both sides to the negotiating table.
