Lebanese PM Seeks Pakistan’s Support to Halt Attacks on Lebanon

Islamabad: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has requested Pakistan’s cooperation to help bring an immediate end to attacks on Lebanon and its people.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, during which he strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression against Lebanon and expressed sorrow over the loss of thousands of lives.

Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan is actively engaged in sincere efforts to promote regional peace, including facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States.

During the call, Nawaf Salam appreciated Pakistan’s peace initiatives and sought its support to stop the attacks on Lebanon. Both leaders agreed to remain in contact.

According to international media reports, the Lebanese prime minister emphasized the need to ensure that Lebanon is included in any ceasefire arrangement to prevent further incidents like recent Israeli strikes, which reportedly killed more than 200 people.

The United States and Israel have stated that Lebanon is not part of the current ceasefire, while Israel has vowed to continue operations against Iran-backed Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Iran’s parliamentary speaker has warned that Tehran considers Lebanon an essential part of any ceasefire framework.
