Opposition Announces Nationwide Protests on April 25, Calls for Release of Political Prisoners
Islamabad: The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan) held a key leadership اجلاس under the chairmanship of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, where opposition leaders announced nationwide district-level protest rallies on April 25 and labor solidarity demonstrations on May 1.
The meeting was attended by prominent سیاسی رہنما including Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Raja Nasir Abbas, and other senior figures from مختلف سیاسی جماعتیں. Participants reviewed the country’s current political and economic situation, regional tensions, and future احتجاجی حکمت عملی.
In a joint declaration, the opposition welcomed the recent two-week ceasefire between Iran and United States, expressing hope that it would lead to lasting peace in the region. They emphasized that sustainable peace in the Middle East requires fair resolutions to issues in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza.
The اجلاس also appreciated the recent Pakistan-Afghanistan talks held in China, stressing that dialogue—not conflict—is the only viable path to regional stability and development.
On domestic matters, the opposition voiced serious concern over the situation in بلوچستان, demanding an immediate halt to ongoing operations, confidence-building measures, and restoration of a peaceful democratic environment. They also called for the release of activists of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and withdrawal of cases against Akhtar Mengal.
The forum demanded the immediate release of political prisoners, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan, as well as activists such as Iman Mazari and Ali Wazir. Participants condemned the treatment of detained leaders and called for restoration of ملاقات rights for lawyers, family members, and political associates.
The opposition urged the government to promote dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and respect public mandate, stating that national progress depends on democratic consensus. They also called on the judiciary, including the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Islamabad High Court, to conduct daily hearings on cases related to Imran Khan and ensure legal facilitation.
Highlighting economic challenges, the leaders expressed concern over rising inflation affecting farmers, laborers, and low-income groups. They announced plans to unite farmer and labor organizations and present an alternative economic agenda.
The movement also declared organizational expansion, assigning Ammar Ali Jan to oversee Punjab and Zain Shah to lead Sindh-level organization.
Reaffirming their commitment, the opposition vowed to continue efforts for constitutional supremacy, democratic stability, protection of public rights, and lasting peace, while prioritizing national interest in all positive initiatives.
