Extortion at Khuzdar Checkposts Persists Despite CM Orders; Iranian Fuel Prices Soar Amid Administrative Inaction

Khuzdar: Despite clear directives from Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, reports indicate that extortion at checkposts in and around Khuzdar continues unabated, raising serious questions about government control and causing severe hardships for citizens.
Sources reported that at the Grisha area near Nal, vehicles are being illegally charged up to PKR 7,000 per vehicle, openly defying official orders. Transporters, traders, and ordinary citizens are facing significant financial pressure. Although SSP Shehzada Umar Abbas suspended two policemen in a timely action, the problem persists at other checkposts.
Meanwhile, disruptions in the supply of Iranian petrol and diesel, combined with illegal levies, have pushed fuel prices sharply upward. In border areas like Chatrbat and Panjgur, a 210-liter drum of fuel is being sold for PKR 31,000–32,000 (approximately PKR 147–150 per liter), rising to PKR 175–180 per liter after additional costs. In contrast, in Khuzdar city, mafia elements have imposed arbitrary rates, selling petrol and diesel for PKR 220–240 per liter, highlighting administrative lapses.
Public representatives have urged the DIG Kalat Range, SSP Khuzdar, Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Abdul Razaq Sasoli, and Assistant Commissioner Khuzdar Hafizullah Kakr to take immediate action to end extortion at checkposts and ensure that petroleum products are sold at regulated rates.
