Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Slams Fuel Price Hike, Calls It “Cruel Burden” on Public

The chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has strongly criticized the recent increase in petroleum prices, calling it an ظلم (act of injustice) against the public.

In a statement, he said the hike has severely impacted low-income and middle-class citizens, adding that not only fuel prices but taxes have also been increased, further burdening the الناس. He rejected the latest increase, noting that petrol prices reaching Rs458 per litre is unacceptable. He highlighted consecutive hikes—first Rs55 and then Rs137—as excessive, warning that bikers, delivery workers, students, and laborers would be among the hardest hit.

Meanwhile, Shafi Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, also criticized the federal government’s economic policies. He stated that ineffective economic decisions have made life increasingly difficult for citizens and pushed the public to the brink, warning that patience among the masses is wearing thin.
