PMA Alleges Major Corruption in Quetta Trauma Center Recruitment and Procurement, Warns of Legal Action

Quetta: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan has raised serious concerns over alleged corruption in recruitment and procurement processes at the Quetta Trauma Center, calling the concealment of selected candidates’ lists “blatant corruption.”

A PMA spokesperson said that despite repeated requests to the Trauma Center’s MD, all recruitment lists, especially of selected candidates, have not been made public, undermining transparency. The association demanded that all recruitment stages and related lists, as well as details of machinery, instruments, and furniture procurements, be disclosed immediately to ensure accountability of public funds.

The spokesperson highlighted reports of potential embezzlement worth billions of rupees under the guise of “alterations,” describing it as unacceptable. Allegations of nepotism were also raised, with unqualified relatives being appointed to technical posts, while senior and experienced professionals were overlooked. Hundreds of unfair recruitments from a single district, ignoring merit, were cited as an injustice to other districts.

PMA also criticized the closure of old Trauma Center facilities and the inflation of renovation costs beyond the original construction budget, calling it “anti-public and irresponsible.”

The association warned that if full transparency is not ensured within 48 hours, it will pursue legal action and organize street protests. PMA stressed that a forthcoming press conference will expose all irregularities, including fake degrees, merit violations, and financial mismanagement at the center.

The spokesperson concluded that the Trauma Center MD and Health Secretary must ensure accountability immediately, or PMA Balochistan will escalate the matter at all levels.
